Q: What is a Puttyroot Orchid?

A: The Puttyroot Orchid is found in rich, moist woodlands over the entire Appalachians. As the single leaf withers the flowering stalk develops small flowers combining shades of brown, green and white. Petals and sepals may be tipped with dark maroon or purple.
